Our methodology
How we score
a deal.
Deal Score is our assessment of how attractive the current price looks based on verified information available to us at the time of the check.
01 · Price
What are you paying?
We start with the current verified offer price. When we have enough observations, we compare it with the product's observed price history.
02 · Deal signal
Is there a real sale signal?
Verified retailer deal information can strengthen the score. We do not treat a crossed-out list price as proof of a great deal by itself.
03 · Confidence
How much do we actually know?
More historical observations produce higher confidence. A price supported only by a retailer reference price receives lower confidence.
04 · Decision
BUY, GOOD DEAL, WAIT or SKIP.
The label summarizes the price opportunity. It is not a promise that the product is the best product for your needs.
The important part
We don't pretend to know
what we don't know.
- Prices and availability can change.
- Deal Score is not a product review or personal test.
- We prefer a lower-confidence “wait” over calling a weak sale a bargain.
- We recommend the best legitimate deal we can verify, not simply the retailer that pays us a commission.
